Honesty

There are all kinds of honesty.  The George Washington kind where you do not tell a lie.  The honesty of always being dependable where your word is good and people can count on you.  Honesty as a child where you learn to tell the truth and honesty in relationships meaning that you are open and trustworthy.

Some dishonesty is more difficult to deal with than others.  People are less than honest when they think the truth may be hurtful or harm someone and that is usually not so hard to deal with.  I think that dishonesty in a relationship is probably the most diffcult to handle.  Good relationships must be based on basic honesty and trust or you don't have a good foundation for your lives together.  Dishonesty in relationships may not mean that you lie to your partner but that you refrain from being open and telling all the truth.

It reminds me of the Bible story of the man who built his house upon the sand and the foundation washed away.  A good relationship, marriage or friendship depends on trust and honesty.  A good relationship is built on that rock of trust and the foundation will be strong and will endure much.
